String Quartet + Trombone

 

Composed for trombonist Dale Sorensen.  Funded by the PEI arts council.

Sorensen Variations is part of a series of works with Variations in the title.  The central theme is stated by the trombone at the beginning, with an almost raga like quality. The theme then weaves itself through the rest of the piece, showcasing a variety of textures and rhythms with this unusual ensemble.
